About Huron Valley Moms' Club

Mission of the HVMC

The Huron Valley Moms’ Club (HVMC) is a non-profit community based support group for ALL moms, including moms who stay home full time, those who work out of their homes and moms who work full or part time. The HVMC can best be defined by our slogan and mission statement—Honoring and Valuing Mothers and Children. HVMC offers members a variety of activities and opportunities to meet other moms in the community. Examples include weekly playgroups, monthly membership meetings, mom’s night out, and special interest clubs.

History of the HVMC

In February of 1999, Cindy T. of Milford founded the Milford/Wixom/South Lyon Chapter of the International MOMS Club. At the first meeting, there were only four members. Within a few years, the membership had grown tremendously, making it difficult to find large enough meeting places. South Lyon and Milford separated to form their own chapters.

In October of 2002, the group made the choice to leave the International group and established its own non-profit organization, the Huron Valley Moms’ Club, with its own operating guidelines and by-laws. We are an independent non-profit organization. Today, the Huron Valley Moms’ Club continues to support each other and the surrounding community.

Operations

The volunteers that manage the HVMC are comprised of the Board of Directors and the Coordinators.  The Board and Coordinator positions are one calendar year in duration.  The Board of Directors consists of a President, Administrative Vice President/Community Service, Membership Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary.  Positions with coordinators include Playgroup, Field Trip, Member Mixer, Mom’s Night Out, Couple’s Night Out, Couple’s Euchre, Recipe Club, Crafter’s Night, Sanity Savers, Welcoming Committee, Website, Book Club, Newsletter Editor and Newsletter Proofreader.

Elections are held annually.  The Nominating Committee is generally formed in July, with nominations taking place in July and August.  Voting (if needed) occurs in early September.  This leaves the 4th quarter for mentoring/training between incumbents and the newly elected Board of Directors and Coordinators.
